ZIGOR Corporation, a Basque company linked to the energy sector and located in Vitoria-Gasteiz, has signed an agreement with SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC through which it becomes the ‘exclusive worldwide supplier’ of the French multinational of industrial solutions based on regulation of voltage to improve the quality of electricity supply in medium and low voltage distribution grids, a strategic and fundamental issue for companies in order to optimize energy efficiency and effectiveness and be competitive.
The agreement, signed exceptionally electronically by the exceptional circumstances generated by COVID-19, “consolidates ZIGOR’s global technological leadership in electrical grid quality systems and will generate for the company a percentage growth in its double-digit business volume in the first three years; and consolidates ZIGOR’s global technological leadership in grid quality systems”, stated the CEO of ZIGOR CORPORACIÓN, Iñigo Segura Díaz de Espada.
This alliance was produced after competing with several firms from different European and Asian countries and demonstrating in an exhaustive process of technical and quality audit “the innovative capacity of ZIGOR. Our systems are entirely designed and developed in Vitoria-Gasteiz by the R&D team. Innovation, to which we dedicate 10% per year of turnover, together with our extensive knowledge of power electronics, the excellent quality control system and our productive capacity, have been the key to the final selection ”, he stated.
By virtue of this agreement, ZIGOR adds SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC to the list of exclusive clients for grid quality systems, including MERCADONA, for whose logistics centers it is also an exclusive supplier.
Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR)
These industrial solutions aimed at improving the quality of power in medium and low voltage distribution grids are implemented in the automotive industry; logistics centers; plastics industry; or, extractive industry such as mining; to name a few.
A DVR protects the installations against disturbances of the electrical network and guarantees a quality electrical supply. For this purpose, DVR system uses the remaining energy in the grid to compensate for voltage drops in the load during the time that the voltage sags last. Thus, it detects and compensates, instantaneously, the voltage drops caused, mainly, by the voltage sags so that it is not noticed that they have happened.
This system supposes to the companies a saving of the costs derived from a stop of their logistical or productive process caused by those previously mentioned sags. It is constituted as a “key and fundamental piece for the industry that has systems sensitive to disturbances in its production processes, especially when a stoppage of these generates high costs (loss of production, loss of raw material, damage repair costs, cost of start-up, indirect costs generated to clients for delays in deliveries…) ”, stated the CEO of ZIGOR CORPORACIÓN.
