From its very beginnings, Zigor has been committed to research, development and innovation activities as the driving force of knowledge generation and a key aspect of our competitiveness.
In 2009 our commitment to INNOVATION was consolidated with the creation of the Zigor Research and Development (Zigor R&D) business unit.
Today, Zigor R&D employs a team with an average age of 39 specialised in the areas of power electronics (energy conversion, design and control of power and analogue system topologies), digital electronics and CAD, the projects of which are led and managed by experts with long, widely recognised careers in the sector.

Our innovation effort is evident not only from the growth in the number of people who make up the team (a 30% increase over the last year) but in our investment in an area to which we will allocate 57% more in 2018 than in the previous year, amounting to 6.3% of our total turnover.

Our track record demonstrates the firm will and clear vision of Zigor in favour of innovation and we understand that the key to success of the innovation strategy is maintaining the balance between projects developed in the short, medium and long-term horizons. These are identified as follows:
- Projects to improve and update products: this involves the optimisation, functional extension, efficiency enhancement and adaptation to the needs of our customers of existing products.
- Development of new products, developing conceptual variations and harnessing new technologies oriented to the expected variations in the markets.
- technological development and research projects based on the identification of the key technologies defined in our technology roadmap and which may be carried out in consortium with other companies.
